As long as we’re gutting the Constitution, let’s also go for the First Amendment: Gingrich raises alarm at event honoring those who stand up for freedom of speech.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich yesterday said the country will be forced to reexamine freedom of speech to meet the threat of terrorism.

Gingrich, speaking at a Manchester awards banquet, said a “different set of rules” may be needed to reduce terrorists’ ability to use the Internet and free speech to recruit and get out their message.

Rules? So the terrorists follow the U.S. rules now? Americans, of course, will be forced to follow the new rules — but it will keep us safe.

Is this what politics has come to now? Morons named Newt making speeches that sound oh so good and patriotic to brain-dead people, but make absolutely no sense?

And this:

He also said court rulings over separation of church and state have hurt citizens’ ability to express themselves and their faith.

Why does one need to “express” their faith in public? He doesn’t tell us.

Gingrich said he will not decide whether he is running for President until September 2007.

Please run, Newt. The voters in this country are probably so fearful that you’ll win. And then we’ll finally have a president who’s even more pathetic than Bush –providing us with lots of comic fodder.
