The Katrina crisis has provoked a heavy outpouring of charity and donations from all Americans. But for African Americans watching events unfold on television, the need to help was especially pressing. With that desire to help, though, has often come anger, and many black churches are struggling to both provide immediate assistance and to help black Americans think out the bigger issues raised by the storm.
