I’ve seen staged photo ops before, and we’ve all seen President Bush giving speeches in front of selected audiences, but this seems like a new low for PR. “The governor’s event involved ‘not exactly filling a pothole, but it represented the pothole aspect’ of the transportation funding measure”

He set up a trip to San Jose where a city crew would dig a pothole so he could fill it. We’ll probably see photos of this event in an upcoming commercial for one of his proposals. Politicians are always on the lookout for great photo-ops, but having a city crew create one is a new thing to me. So he took time out from cleaning up California by lowering pay and benefits for public employees, to have a public city crew stand around and dig up a pothole for him to pretend to fill.

And he wonders why people follow him to protest his actions. . .
