Here’s a site that describes how to keep your high school child from being
harassed by military recruiters:
Leave My Child Alone!

School districts are required under Section 9528 of the No Child Left
Behind Act to release student records to military recruiters or risk losing
funding, but they are also required to inform families of their Opt Out
rights. Notification varies wildly across districts, and it’s a bit of a
crapshoot whether families know or not.

It’s getting increasingly difficult to find volunteers, so the hard sell
tactics
will only get worse. See:

Tough sell for Army Recruiters.

We’re at least two generations away from a war most everybody felt it was
their patriotic duty to fight. Iraq, like Vietnam, feels like somebody else’s
fight, a war we got into because of the theories, misjudgments and outright
lies of politicians. Even if you think bringing democracy to the Middle East
is a worthy foreign policy goal, is it worth your child’s life?
